Teaching

Teaching in the departments of art studies emphasizes diversity and multidisciplinarity. This is due to the fact that many of the subjects within art studies are by nature multidisciplinary and include different research traditions.

When developing common courses in art studies, we look for themes, questions and viewpoints on the interfaces of the various subjects in order to make it possible both to take into account the specialities of each subject and to advance from the multidisciplinary to the interdisciplinary. Teaching is based on ongoing research. The aim is to create an atmosphere on both the basic degree and postgraduate level that encourages intellectual curiosity and interdisciplinary interest.

The former School of Art Studies was awarded the status of Centre of Excellence in University Education for the years 2007 to 2009.
