SEMESTERS AND QUARTERS

 

The academic year is divided into two semesters; the semesters are divided into two quarters of eight weeks. Students are required to attend the first meeting of the course they intend to take. No contact teaching (lectures, small groups, seminars) is offered during the last week of each quarter, but there may be examinations, deadlines for written assignments, etc. The eighth week is not intended to be a week off!

Autumn semester 2011

 

Teaching starts on Monday 5 September.

Quarter 1 (also known as Q1, SL-1): 5.9. - 30.10.2011

Quarter 2 (Q2, SL-2): 31.10. - 18.12.2011

 

Most courses last two quarters, i.e. the whole autumn.

 

Spring semester 2012

 

Teaching starts on Monday 9 January. There is an Easter break in late March. Finalized teaching timetables, sign-up lists for small groups and other information will be posted on the Department main notice board in December.

Quarter 3 (Q3, KL-1): 9.1. - 4.3.2012

Quarter 4 (Q4, KL-2): 5.3. - 6.5.2012

 

Most courses last two quarters, i.e. the whole spring.
