STUDY GUIDE FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS

This page is intended specifically for incoming exchange students from other countries, and should not be consulted by 'internal' students taking degree courses at the university of Turku. The purpose of this page is to present information about courses which exchange students can take, and the regulations which apply to them. NB! If a given course is not listed here, it is not available for incoming exchange students.

Exchange students coming to the Department may take classes at BA (introductory or intermediate) level, or at MA (advanced) level, on condition that they have an adequate academic background for the class concerned. Students applying to take classes at the MA level are asked to show documentation that they will have already completed BA or equivalent level studies by the time they arrive in Turku.

All students intending to take courses at the Department of English should submit for approval in advance a Learning Agreement which includes those courses, and must meet for briefing with the Department?s exchanges coordinator, at the very beginning of semester before classes start. A special meeting will usually be held for this purpose, which will be announced in connection with the orientation program for new international students at the beginning of each semester and also on the page for that semester on this website. Any incoming students who cannot attend that meeting are asked to contact the coordinator by e-mail <keith.battarbee@utu.fi> and arrange a meeting at another time.

More relevant information can also be found here and at the University's International Office. Classes offered in the North American Studies program (NAMS) are listed on the NAMS website.
