Work in Process Workshop for Doctoral Students in Art History

Tuesday 23 August 2011, University of Helsinki

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Finnish Doctoral Programme in Art History is organizing a one-day workshop in connection with the Imagining Spaces/Places Conference at the University of Helsinki (24−26 August 2011). The workshop is aimed at doctoral students in art history. Doctoral students can apply to participate in the workshop with an abstract of their work in process. Accepted participants will write a paper and give a presentation of their subject. The presentation can particularly emphasize or address the issues in which one's own work touches upon specific thematic areas of the conference.

The workshop will be a closed seminar for doctoral students and professors and lecturers in art history from four universities in Finland (the universities of Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Turku and Åbo Akademi University in Turku). Professor Claire Farago (University of Colorado), one of the keynote speakers of the conference, will lead discussion in the workshop and there will be open discussion on papers and presentations led by moderators.

Lunch, coffee and dinner are included for the accepted participants on Tuesday 23 August. The participants must pay their own travel expenses and accommodation in Helsinki (see possibilities for accommodation to be posted later on the Imagining Spaces/Places Conference website: http://blogs.helsinki.fi/imagining-spaces-places/).
