PhD Minna Opas
Dr Minna Opas is Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Fellow in Comparative Religion at the University of Turku. Her doctoral thesis (2008) concentrated on human-nonhuman relations among the Yine people of south-eastern Peruvian Amazonia and on the negotiation of socio-moral values, personhoods and Christianities in these relations. In her postdoctoral research project ’Materiality and Immateriality in Indigenous Amazonian Christianities’ (2011-2014) she examines questions of materiality in contemporary forms of everyday lived Christianities among the indigenous groups of Amazonia. She has done fieldwork among the Peruvian Yine people living in the Madre de Dios area in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007. She has worked also as a consult in a development co-operation project 'Biodamaz' in Northern Peru.
